PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a common hormonal disorder in women, affecting more than 4 to 20% of women around the world. PCOS also leads to an increase in androgen (male hormone) levels in the body. It is found to be especially causing weight gain around the abdomen, regarded as central obesity. Insulin resistance and the increase in the level of androgen due to PCOS are considered major reasons for weight gain in the women affected with PCOS.
