Squeeze a shampoo into your palm, and you can usually tell which kind you've bought. Some are water-clear. Some are milky, and some have that soft, shifting sheen that makes the whole bottle look expensive. That sheen comes from ethylene glycol distearate, or EGDS. There's no pigment involved, and no glitter. The pearl is built out of crystals that form while the batch cools.
