Factory head units are the real bottleneck, honestly, not the speakers everyone ends up blaming. A head unit might print 50 watts per channel somewhere on the box. Real output rarely gets close. Distortion creeps in well before the speaker itself actually fails. Car audio amplifiers exist to close that gap-clean power instead of whatever the stock deck manages to scrape together once the volume climbs.
